Got to about 37 (counting areas on the floor before a large obstacle as a flat surface[1])[1] And if you don't count these, then you're doing it wrong.
I have been counting them :-p Some large areas only count as one, just so you know ;-)

Should one count the "implied" surfaces, such as the couch you are clearly sitting on (since you are facing the television)? I would definitely count that as a surface you are taking advantage of.
